Namibian NGO Coalition Welcomes Draft ATI Law

9 June 2016

The Access to Information in Namibia (Action) Coalition has praised the government’s draft access to information (ATI) law.

The coalition issued a statement after the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology released for consultation and discussion both a draft ATI working document and a draft of the revised National Information Policy, The Namibian report. “Access to information is an issue which has long featured on the legislative and policy−making agenda, but which has not been brought to a conclusive head up until present,” the Coalition said.

It welcomed the inclusion of civil society and the media to help develop both the ATI Bill and the new information policy. The consultations are slated to start June13, according to another article in The Namibian.
