A bill on access to information has been included on the agenda for the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, according to activists who campaigned for its inclusion.
An access bill law passed the Senate in October 2015 by the Senate and was sent to the National Assembly Nov. 2, 2015. (See FreedomInfo.org report.)
Collective 24 followed up with the lower house of the Congolese Parliament after seeing that the draft law on access to information was not taken into account on the Assembly agenda, according to Henri Christin Longendja, Executive Secretary.
“This shows the great work of parliamentary lobbying to civil society,” Longendja noted, stressing that the next task is a positive vote. Advocates are encouraging an SMS or email to the socio cultural commission which is responsible for the second reading of this law.
