South African Ministry Drops Appeal Over `Key Points’

22 January 2015

The South African Police Ministry will drop its objections to disclosing a list of National Key Points.

A South African court in December gave the ministry 30 days to make public the list of places designated by the government as being of key security importance. (See previous FreedomInfo.org article.)

The ministry has decided to withdraw an appeal launched in the High Court in Johannesburg seeking to overrule the judgment, according to media reports.

The police’s Ronel Otto said, “The police will disclose the names of the key points and this is instructed by the court, we have decided to withdraw the appeal that we were going to launch tomorrow.”
