Transparency and Accountability: The Centre for Law and Democracy and the Democracy Reporting International have published a Briefing Paper on International Standards on Transparency and Accountability.   A 2011 DRI report outlined the key components of a strong democracy, International Consensus: Essential Elements of Democracy.

Transparency and Accountability: A research note in the current issue of Governance by Albert Van Zyl says civil society organizations play a larger than appreciated role.  Read the first page of the research note and full article if you have institutional access or pay for access.

Aid Transparency: Ahead of the meeting of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) in Mexico, and with the help of other international NGOs such as Oxfam and Transparency International, PublishWhatYouFund issued letters to the world’s development ministers urging them to accelerate plans to publish to the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). You can read more in a blog post.

Environment: A survey of 22 out of 54 natural resource funds — government-owned sovereign wealth funds that are financed largely by oil, gas and mineral revenues — in 18 national and subnational jurisdictions, done by the Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable International Investment and the Revenue Watch Institute, includes a discussion of their transparency and recommends a six-step process for promoting good natural resource fund governance. United States: A study examining how the 50 states rate on providing online access to budget information, by the US Public Interest Research Group.

Accountability: The Knowledge Platform on Social Accountability has been created by the Mexican FUNDAR, the Center for Analysis and Research, for the Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA), a coalition of donors, governments and civil society organizations that provides strategic and sustained support to beneficiary groups and CSOs that are implementing social accountability initiatives to promote greater transparency and accountability in developing countries.
