FOI Notes: Grants, US Advisory Panel, Local Open Data Census, Delaware

Grants: Open Society Initiative for West Africa is seeking proposals to “promote access to Information and Media Freedom” in Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone. The announcement also includes a variety of other topics. Proposals should be sent directly to: proposals@osiwa.org and will be accepted until May 30, 2014.

United States: The National Archives and Records Administration is looking for persons to serve on a new FOIA Modernization Advisory Committee. “We expect that there will be 20 members, half of them from government agencies and half from the FOIA requester community. The committee aims to meet in Washington four times a year for at least the next two years,” according to an announcement in the blog of the Office of Government Information Services

Open Data: The Local Open Data Census will survey and compare the progress made by different cities and local areas in releasing open data. See announcement by the Open Knowledge Foundation.

United States: Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden launched a “Freedom of Information Act Roadshow” to promote knowledge of Delaware’s Freedom of Information Act and promote open government. A new interactive Web portal is designed to increase Delawareans’ access to information about the state’s open government laws. The site, opinions.attorneygeneral.delaware.gov, contains opinions issued by the Attorney General’s Office since 1995.
