Alliances: The Regional Alliance for Free Expression and Information on July 31 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, signed a cooperation agreement with the Network of Transparency and Access to Information (RTA), a group that brings together the oversight bodies of this law in the region. The partnership seeks to create activities to promote the right of access to information, deepen cooperation is international spaces, and share experiences in countries that have an impact on both networks, as well as generate training internationally on the subject and the analysis of studies and research on the subject.
Use Guide: The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative launched a user guide on the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act, 2009. The inaugural event organized in collaboration with Sangharsh RTI movement, a Jammu based coalition of RTI users and activists. The goal of this book launch was to provide a practical guide to the common citizenry so that they feel comfortable in understanding the Right to Information Act of J&K as well as in using the same to seek accountability from the public authorities. Another important focus of the book launch was to highlight the success stories mentioned in the book and to aware the participants about the advantages in skillfully drafting a precise and objectified information request.
