Call for Articles on Transparency in Government: PA Times [A U.S. journal on public administration] is planning a March issue on “Transparency in Government: Openness, Collaboration and Accountability.” A request for articles says: “Submit an article that discusses transparency in government and its role in promoting collaboration and accountability. We want to know how local, state and municipal agencies are addressing the technology wave to increase openness and access to government.” Articles must be between 1,000-1200 words and be received by Jan. 25. Open Data: A commentary by Thom Rubel of IDG Government Insights making predictions for government information technology in 2013, says more than 40% of U.S. local governments will be in research and evaluation stage for “smart city” pilots/projects and 50% will begin implementation in 2013.He also predicts, “Government organizations that promote open data will foster 25% more private commercial activity in apps and services that will facilitate improved outcomes across a range of government goals.”
