Ibero-American Agreement for Transparency and ATI: Drafted recently in Cadiz, Spain, by representatives from 19 Latin America countries and three from Europe (Spain, Portugal and Andorra), this document contains many other agreements along with the Transparency and ATI. The statements on transparency and access are on page 80. (pdf in Spanish) Drafted under the auspices of the Secretaría General Iberoamericana ( Ibero-American General Secretariat). The Secretariat is an international organization and acts as a permanent body that provides institutional and technical support to the Ibero-American Conference and the State Summit of the Ibero-American countries.
Call for Papers: A workshop is being planned for March 11-12, 2013, at Stanford University with the title of “The Right to information and transparency in the digital age: Policy, tools and practices Workshop. It is being organized by the Stanford Liberation Technology Program.
“The workshop will convene both practitioners and academics to discuss their work in the area and to examine the theoretical and practical implications of these phenomena. We seek to bring together people engaged in law, policy, social movements, administration, technology, design and of course, the use of technology for accessing information. We propose to go well beyond the issue of accessing information by looking at the use of technology to record, store, process and disseminate public information, and to create interactive spaces in the public sphere so that the full potential of ICT for transparency can be realized.”
The announcement seeks submissions in variety of areas, more elaborated in the announcement. They are: Technology for transparency, Open data, open knowledge and open access, Open innovation and transparency, Legal and policy considerations in the use of technology for right to information, Role of media and journalism in transparency, and Digital tools for transparency.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 18, 2013. Accepted presenters will be informed by Feb. 1, 2013. The form of submission is either full paper (maximum 25 pages) or extended abstract (6 pages). The submissions should be sent to the following email address: vivekdse+rti@gmail.com.
