India’s Sports Minister Ajay Maken has proposed that sports federations be subject to the right to information law, according to media reports such as one in ndtv.com
He has proposed a variety of procedural reforms, including the creation of a 23-member advisory council.
Among these proposals is a proposal that all sports federations, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India will come under the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
The government’s auditor recently issued a report about the 2010 Commonwealth Games citing financial irregularities, poor implementation and major problems with the infrastructure.
