The Centre for Policy Research in New Delhi has issued a short policy brief that looks at the potential of the Right to Information Act in India as a tool to promote civil society accountability.

On International Right to Know Day, Sept. 28, speakers including the European Ombudsman will appear at a forum in Brussels. The topic is “Transparency at the EU level and in the Member States.”
P. Nikiforos Diamandouros, European Ombudsman, will speak on “European citizens’ right to know – complaints about lack of transparency.” Jana Mittermeier, Head of Transparency International Brussels, will address “Differences in access to information cultures and regulations in EU Member States: A problem for EU transparency?” Christian Linder, Cabinet Member of Commission Vice-President Šefcovic, will discuss “Transparency at EU level: an institutional point of view.” Olivier Hoedeman, Corporate Europe Observatory/ALTER-EU, will present “The 10-point action plan for transparency and ethics reform in the EU institutions.”
